Well apparently...
Back in 1541 Henry VIII awarded Kings Scholers the royal right to play games in the Cathedral Precincts, and the privilege to spin out tops and trundle hoops without interruption was extended to Queens Scholers after a visit from the Queen in 1973.
These rights are now commemorated through the annual hoop trudle races for Kings and Queens Scholers.

This years Winners, Matthew Morgan and Laura Haylock. They reigned victorious as they trudled thier hoops along the 67m course from the South door of the Cathedral and back.
