East Anglia Chamber Orchestra (EAChO)
Whilst being based around Cambridge, with regular concerts at the West Road Concert Hall, EAChO also perform concerts in other parts of East Anglia. The next season also sees visits to Ely Cathedral, The Apex @ Bury St Edmunds and Thaxted Parish Church. EAChO primarily focuses on Chamber and Chamber Orchestra scale works and most programmes contain an exciting mixture of the familiar and the less well known.
EAChO invites professional conductors to drive the highest possible standards. Recent regulars have included Tony Halstead, Stephen Cleobury, Andrew Watkinson & Jacques Cohen. Professional soloists are a regular feature. EAChO also provides a regular platform for the very best of local soloist talent including members of the orchestra. Our leader is Helen Medlock.
Recent programmes have included works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Britten, Copland, Dvorak, Elgar, Faure, Francaix, Haydn, Milhaud, Mozart, Shostakovich, Stravinsky & Vaughan Williams.
Ely Consort is a Chamber choir of about 30+ voices and originally formed in 1988. We perform music in a wide variety of styles in local concert venues.
Ely Consort can trace its history back to the late 1980s, when the need for a chamber-size choir in Ely was recognised by Aidan Fairlie, then a lay clerk at Ely Cathedral and director of the Ely Choral Society.
