The Military Wives Choir is run as a charity and is made up of wives of serving members of the military who through their love of singing formed to entertain the public. This event features a collection of Christmas carols and songs within the magnificent cathedral.

Behind Closed Doors–Festive Food with Nora Gardner

Although during the Seventeenth century, christmas was banned throughout the commonwealth many people still celebrated in secret, here Nora Gardner a local guide and historian takes the viewer on a cookery tour of the food ingredients and flavours that would have been used to create a festive meal such as Turkey Pie, Plum Porridge, Mince Pies, Herbs and Spices Wine and Ale, all created in the original kitchen of Oliver Cromwell’s wife. Ely Christmas Lights Switch On

Now in its thirteenth year Ely prepares for its Christmas lights switch on.which is conducted from the stage that is built on the road for the local theatre group K D Productions to perform its “Beauty and The Beast” along with other live acts. Mums and Dads take the children to visit Santa in his grotto, meet a variety of Christmas Characters. There is also a Funfair, a variety of Craft Stalls and Charity Stalls and children’s activities.
